This extensive dataset, comprising 2,826 high-scoring positive detections, reveals the sheer volume and diffuse nature of mining operations across the islands. The search turned up numerous open pits, spoil heaps, and areas of intense ground disturbance, often appearing as highly reflective or discolored patches against the natural terrain.

The distribution of these features suggests that mining is not confined to a few industrial zones but is a widespread phenomenon, leaving an intricate network of altered landscapes throughout the region. These thousands of data points collectively paint a stark picture, but a closer look at specific sites reveals the intricate details of this widespread transformation.
